ERASMUS + Besuch in BRNO

Erasmus+ Projektwoche in Brünn

14.03.-18.03.2022

Hello you,

we hope you’re doing fine and stayed healthy during the time we were away. It’s so sad that you couldn’t be part of this journey, because it was very interesting, and also exhausting. We would love to tell you something about the trip to Brno.

On Monday we had a long bus ride. As we arrived, we checked-in in our hotel and, surprise, there was no elevator. So four floors by foot with our heavy suitcases. We had to be back on our feet very fast, because the Brno students showed us some sights in the city centre. After that we had our first dinner, which was pretty good and continued to be good for the rest of the week. In the evening we started a sightseeing-tour on our own, which ended in getting lost at first and finding our way back by coincidence.

The rest of the week started with a breakfast. On Tuesday we went to the German-speaking grammar school and we got to know the school a little bit on a quiz tour. We visited lessons that were held in English and German and afterwards we went to the Spilberk castle. To our surprise, by foot again and there were a „few“ stairs. You didn’t miss that for sure. After a sightseeing-tour with the bus we drove to the Olympia shopping centre, where we had a funny bowling evening.

Wednesday started with visiting the English-language kindergarten. We had a short tour there. After that we went to the pedagogical high school. First, we played short games to get to know each other a bit more, then we compared all three schools and presented it in front of the class. After that we had a pretty long but exciting tour through the Villa Tugendhat and when coming back to the hotel, we explored Brno’s nightlife possibilities. There was a large selection of potential bars where you surely would have tasted your way through.

Waking up at 6 a.m. was our start into Thursday. We again visited the grammar school in which we had another look at the lessons and even got a chance to teach German on our own. Later we visited the Mendel Museum and the Augustinian church, which is next to the museum. Probably the highlight of this week was the visit to the Punkva-caves, which ended with a very adventurous boat ride. We know that you would have loved it as well. To celebrate our last evening, we checked out a cocktail bar, where the cocktails were of course only alcohol-free and very cheap.

Our Friday started less stressfully, and we actually slept until 7 a.m. We packed our suitcases and had to carry them all the way back downstairs. We went to the school one last time and we summarized the whole project. Sadly, then we had to start our journey back home.

All in all, it was a very interesting and informational project, but it would have been way better if you were also part of it. We are looking forward to seeing you again and hearing about your week.

Lots of love,

Sara and Kerstin.
